Eagles quarterback Pete Zilkalns has his work cut out for him. The rookie is the nephew of head coach Geoff Zilkalns, and he takes the helm, just as the Eagles are promoted to face the best teams in the Winnipeg High School Football League.

"I was played Falcons, as quarterback, but I'm now with the high school team playing AAA with the Eagles. It's going to be a good year with the boys," he said, following last week's scrimmage in Kenora.

Eagles coaches were pleased with what they saw, after match-ups against Thunder Bay's Hammerskjold, Beaver Brae and Fort Frances.

The Eagles begin the regular season Thursday, as they play Vincent Massey.
