The community of Sioux Lookout will get its first taste of junior hockey this weekend.

The newly formed Sioux Lookout Bombers will be hosting the Dryden GM Ice Dogs and the Thunder Bay North Stars in a Superior International Junior Hockey League game on Saturday (October 23, 2021).

This will the first game that will be hosted at their rink nicknamed the “Hangar” leading up to their entry into the league in September of 2022.

James Brohm Director of Communications and Marketing for the Bombers says this game is huge for the community and the team.

“This is an opportunity for us to show the SIJHL that we do have the best hockey fans in the league and we haven’t even started playing yet,” said Brohm.

Brohm noted that leading up to the drop of the puck the team will be making a big announcement.

“As part of our pre-game ceremony we will be reveling our home and away jerseys for the inaugural season and we’ll do that at the puck drop at the October 23rd game,” added Brohm.

Fans that want to attend the game can purchase tickets online at bombermerch.ca, and then can be picked up at Catspaw Printing (59 King St., Sioux Lookout) until October 22, 2021. On game day, online ticket purchases can be picked up at the door after 6:30 pm.

All spectators will be subject to municipal COVID regulations, including providing Proof of Full Vaccination, collection of information for contact tracing, and must adhere to all distancing requirements. These regulations are set by the municipality, under provincial guidelines, and are subject to change at any time.
