The Keewatin Patricia District School has announced its high school and adult education graduation plans at a school board meeting on Tuesday night. This comes after the Ontario government gave school boards the go-ahead to hold short, outdoor celebrations.

The KPDSB explained in detail how each high school and adult education program will be handing their graduation ceremonies.

Beaver Brae Secondary School

Beaver Brae Secondary School is organizing an outdoor ceremony with a stage and tent. Families are scheduled to attend and each student will be able to receive their diploma. Every student will have their own personalized profile card that will be read.

The staff of BBSS will be hand delivering student's grad signs and gowns beginning the first week of June. Also, students will be given grad gift bags.

In an effort to promote each and every graduating student, using social media, Beaver Brae will be recognizing 5 grads per day up until June 23rd.

After the ceremony, valedictorian speeches, principal address, announcements of awards, scholarships, and bursaries, will be read and grad photos will be presented.

Photos will be permitted at the graduation.

Dryden High School

Dryden High School has planned an outdoor graduation ceremony. Students will receive their high school diploma, awards and a personalized biography card with future plans being read by the staff.

Grads will receive a grad lawn sign and a safe grad bag. Photo opportunities will be allowed at the ceremony.

Ignace Public School

Ignace Public School has organized an outdoor drive-thru grad ceremony and has the intent to get a stage for the ceremony. Families will have scheduled times.

Students will receive their diplomas and bursaries. They will also be given a grad bag and photos will be permitted.

After the completion of the graduation ceremony, a grad video with a principal message, student address, guest speakers, and a PowerPoint will be shown.

Sioux North High School

Sioux North High School has organized an outdoor graduation ceremony, with a stage and tent. Families will be given a scheduled time.

Students will receive their diplomas and photo opportunities will be allowed.

On June 30, 2021, a virtual grad on Youtube will be held including a principal address, guest speakers, valedictorian speeches, photos of the outdoor graduation ceremony, awards, bursaries, and scholarships. The school will also be doing a grad slideshow.

Red Lake District High School

Red Lake District High School will be performing an outdoor graduation ceremony and plan to have a stage and tent. Families are scheduled to attend the ceremony.

Grads will receive their diploma, photos will be permitted and following the ceremony on June 30, 2021, a virtual grad will be held.

The virtual grad will have a principal address, photos from their outdoor graduation, a list of grad awards, bursaries, scholarship winners, and a grad slideshow.

Adult Education and Seven Generations

Adult education and seven generations have a virtual grad planned with the grad video, and students will pick up their diplomas and their grad cap and receive congratulations at individual sites.

Students have been learning virtually since the week of April 20, 2021. The school board has a learning plan in place to help students transition from virtual to in-class learning come September.

The last day of school for students of the KPDSB is June 25, 2021.
