The Dryden GM Ice Dogs remain winless at Cochenour Arena this season as the Red Lake Miners scored four goals in the first period and never looked back skating to an 8-4 win.

The Ice Dogs were coming off a tough 4-3 loss just two nights prior and didn't get off to the start they wanted giving up the game's first goal just over two minutes in when Nic Bolin potted his sixth of the year.

The Miners continued to dominate the first period as they added three more goals in the frame two of which were on the powerplay to take a commanding 4-0 lead after 20 minutes.

It wasn't the start newly acquired goalie Ryley Gross had in mind as he was pulled just before the end of the period giving up four goals on eight shots.

The shots after the first period were 13-9 in favour of Red Lake.

The Ice Dogs sticks came alive in the second as they scored three straight goals early in the frame to cut the Miners lead to one. It all started with Derek Koivisto getting Dryden on the board just over two minutes in when he was able to beat the Miners goalie for his fifth of the year.

21 seconds later Max Rath was able to score his first of the season to give Dryden some life. Just over eight minutes into the second Maxime Collette was able to capitalize on the powerplay as he picked up goal number 11 on the year.

The Miners responded with three goals of their own to extend their lead to 7-3 heading into the second intermission.

Shots after 40 minutes were dead even at 22 shots apiece.

Dryden got one back eight seconds into the third period to make it a 7-4 game as Collette got his second of the game shorthanded.

Red Lake added one of their own in the period and that's how the game finished an 8-4 final.

The final shot count was 37-31 for the Ice Dogs.

With the win, Red Lake moves to 7-2-1-0 while Dryden drops to 4-5-1-0.

Miners goalie Kiev Kenishanko gets the win stopping 33 of 37 shots.

Dryden's Jordan Belley takes the loss coming in relief stopping 19 of 23 shots.

The Ice Dogs are back on the ice tonight to battle the Thunder Bay North Stars in an exhibition game in Sioux Lookout. The puck drop is at 7:30 p.m.
