Dryden High School Alumni Ryan Hron and Tyler Boon are Keystone Cup Champions.

The two, who have also played for the Dryden Paper Kings and attend Lakehead University, helped the Thunder Bay Northern Hawks earn the title, which was won by Thunder Bay for the first time in 19 years over the weekend.

Hron and Boon are the only two players on the Northern Hawks' roster who are not from Thunder Bay. The Hawks (Lakehead Junior Hockey League champions) were given a bye into Sunday’s gold medal game as they swept round-robin play.

Hron, Thunder Hawks’ team captain, contributed to a goal in the 5-2 win over the Manitoba KJHL champions, Peguis Juniors in the Keystone Cup final.

“The Keystone Cup is the Junior "B" ice hockey championship and trophy for Western Canada. The championship is the culmination of the champions of 12 hockey leagues in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Northwestern Ontario."
